President
Ursuline Academy
Dallas, Texas

Dear Sister Margaret Ann,

The President’s Dinner at the Belo Mansion was an elegant kickoff to the public phase of the Capital Campaign for the new French Family Math and Science Building at Ursuline. It is exciting to know that the fulfillment of a long time dream of the school is nearing reality.

Your announcement that the campaign has more than half of its funding goal already received or pledged must have made the campaign’s co-chairs, Dr. John McConnell and Roger Hirl, very proud.  Such successful fundraising efforts created a real sense of excitement that night.  I think your surprise announcement that Win Bell is the recipient of the 2008 President’s Award added a perfect touch to the evening.  Win seemed truly surprised and humbled.  He is a wonderful example of a volunteer who is truly making a difference at Ursuline. Win’s significant contribution of expertise to the project is a story that needs to be told.

The Catholic Foundation was pleased to be a guest at the dinner and is proud to be a part of the project through our recent grant towards the construction.  Providing funding for the Math and Science Building is well aligned with our founders’ intentions when they launched The Catholic Foundation.  I am also sure that the late Louise Buhrer, who established a fund at The Catholic Foundation benefitting Ursuline, also would be very proud to know her legacy will help fund the new building.

Congratulations on your leadership in this important time for Ursuline. The Academy’s future graduates will benefit for many years.

Sincerely,

Edwin M. Schaffler
President and Chief Executive Officer
