Dear Marty,
It is hard to believe that we are getting ready for the second annual art competition for the Art Wall located in The Catholic Foundation Plaza in the Dallas Arts District. It seems like our panel of art experts just finished selecting your work “Celebrate Life, Celebrate Art” as the first winner which was placed on public display in the Plaza at the corner of Crockett and Flora Streets.
The Selection Committee has again decided that the invitational competition will be for artists from North Texas. We will be asking a lot from each artist because their work will have to be created to be placed on the 28 foot by 9 foot high wall in the Plaza for one year. As last year, we will award a stipend to the winner and runner-up. The committee expects many more entries this year because of the opportunity the winner receives to have their work be a very visible part of the Dallas Arts District.
Marty, you probably know this, but the feedback we have received over the last year about your winning entry has been outstanding. It is a joyous work that everyone should see. The positive impact it makes on the overall beauty of the Plaza makes a visit there a wonderful experience. The Catholic Foundation is very pleased with the reception the Plaza has received from our community and your work has helped make the Plaza a success. We are looking forward to another great competition.
Sincerely,
Edwin M. Schaffler
President and Chief Executive Officer
