Dallas, Texas

Dear Frank and Lorie,

I hope that you had a fun Fourth of July celebration. Independence Day is a favorite holiday of mine, too.

Your interest in a Donor Advised Fund at The Catholic Foundation is appreciated and we would be enthusiastic about helping as you consider establishing one. As we discussed, donor advised funds can accommodate almost any charitable scenario you can imagine, However, the two most popular are known as a non-endowed donor advised fund and the endowed donor advised fund. With the non-endowed fund a donor can request that the entire fund be used for charitable causes while the endowed fund is permanent in nature and only a portion is distributed each year.

Donor advised funds at The Catholic Foundation are a critical component of “Catholic Philanthropy” because generous individuals such as yourselves work with the Foundation to achieve desired grant distributions. A donor advised fund benefits the donor because they know the fund is always at their disposal and makes saying yes to worthy causes easier. Catholic Foundation donor advised funds provide millions of dollars of support throughout our Diocese each year; support that might not otherwise be present.

I look forward to continuing our discussion about donor advised funds with you. I hope you agree that they are a wonderful charitable giving tool and easy to establish. Thanks again for thinking of The Catholic Foundation for your charitable interests.

Sincerely,

Edwin M. Schaffler
President and Chief Executive Officer
