Texas Catholic Letters

Mr. and Mrs. Chris Tebben
Frisco, Texas

Dear Chris and Marina,

Welcome to one of the fastest growing Dioceses in the USA! You probably knew of the fantastic opportunities when you decided to relocate from Chicago to North Texas, but I doubt you realized that you were going to become a part of a Church that is teeming with growth.

In the last few years numerous new parishes have been established and many others are expanding. Your new parish, St. Francis of Assisi, was established in 1966, but the new building plans that have blossomed there recently are incredible. Similar growth is occurring in Plano at Our Lady of Angels, St. Gabriel the Archangel and St. Michael in McKinney not to mention the opening of our newest Catholic High School, John Paul II in Plano.

At this point, I suspect you are not familiar with The Catholic Foundation. We were founded more than 50 years ago by a group of laymen to help meet the challenges that a growing Diocese faces. Our fund raising efforts have resulted in an endowment approaching $30 million and that has already made more than $20 million in grants to support our church. Additionally, as a community foundation, we are also the home of many types of donor advised funds which are also an important source of support for our church.

Chris and Marina, I hope that as you settle into your new home that you will plan to become an active part of the growth of our church and The Catholic Foundation. I look forward to telling you about our work.

Sincerely,

Edwin M. Schaffler
President and Chief Executive Officer
