Deacon Dave Obergfell
Parish Administrator
St. Edward’s Parish
Dallas, Texas

Dear Deacon Dave,

Congratulations on your appointment as Parish Administrator for St. Edward’s Parish. It sounds like you and Father Jesus Belmontes are very busy on the weekends providing up to 13 different services. St. Edward’s, like many parishes in the Diocese, is faced with the challenges a rapidly growing population brings.

Your call about a grant was timely as The Catholic Foundation has a grant deadline coming up on August 9. We expect to receive the usual large volume of requests. So far this year the Foundation has granted $400,000 for a variety of projects. Additionally, Donor Advised Funds have granted well over $1 million into the community so far this year. Catholic philanthropy is alive and well in our Diocese!

In regards to your grant questions, the grant application and instructions are on our website www.catholicfoundation.com. but as always any of us here at the Foundation will be happy to assist you. We try to make the grant process as easy as possible because we know how busy everyone serving our community is. After you have prepared and submitted the application, we will review it internally and turn it over to a Trustee on the Distribution Committee for a further review that will include a visit to the parish to better understand your request.

Supporting the many different needs in our community is exactly what our founders and benefactors had in mind when the Foundation began over 50 years ago. Good luck with your request and thank you for calling.

Sincerely,

Edwin M. Schaffler
President and Chief Executive Officer
