Texas Catholic Letters

Mr. Mike Marotta
Principal, St. Augustine Catholic School
Dallas, Texas

Dear Mike,

First of all, congratulations on becoming the Principal at St. Augustine Catholic School. Leaving Jesuit Preparatory High School for the new opportunity must have been a difficult decision after your time there, but I know the children of your new school will gain much through your leadership.

While you have left one school for another there is one thing I am happy to tell you will follow you and that is the Work of Heart Award program established two years ago by a generous and anonymous Dallas family. The program, administered by The Catholic Foundation, was created to recognize the dedicated work and “going the extra mile” that happens everyday in our schools. Administrators, teachers and all employees in the schools are eligible for the awards which are made monthly.

As you may remember, anyone can nominate an individual for the $500 award by sending a written nomination letter to The Catholic Foundation and nominations are now open for the new school year. So far, 321 members of our catholic school community have been recognized with awards totaling $223,500 and now we have another year to add to that total.

Finally, I want to compliment you and your very creative staff at St. Augustine for pitching in to design the very meaningful message from all of the schools that ran in the Texas Catholic’s back to school edition thanking the anonymous family. I know they saw it and were appreciative and moved.

Good luck with the new school year!

Sincerely,

Edwin M. Schaffler
President and Chief Executive Officer
