Mr. Kabul Singh
Good Shepherd Catholic School
Garland, Texas
Dear Mr. Singh,
Last Monday when The Catholic Foundation was presenting the “Work of Heart” awards at the Teacher In-Service at John Paul II High School it was easy to see the enthusiasm of the over 900 teachers present each time an honoree was announced. Individuals from all walks of Catholic school life were recognized.
When your name was read the loud cheer from the Good Shepherd School Community could not be missed. I am sure it was because they are aware of your commitment to education and know you deserve the honor! As you walked to the stage on your bad knee, I had a chance to review again the nomination letter. I wish I could have read it for all to hear. Your 52-year career as an educator is an amazing accomplishment and your devotion to educating children is remarkable. You told me it all started in India when you were a child and someone gave you the means to an education. You promised then to repay your opportunity by becoming an educator. Your promise has been fulfilled I imagine your many students are thankful for that promise to yourself, especially the underprivileged ones in India that you personally fund with a portion of your earnings from Good Shepherd School. You are truly an unsung hero and a deserving representative of the Work of Heart award.
Your generosity is a wonderful example of the charitable giving The Catholic Foundation encourages and supports through our unrestricted grants and donor-advised funds. Congratulations and God Bless you.Sincerely,
Edwin M. Schaffler
