Rev. Jeremy Meyers
Sherman, Texas

Dear Father Jeremy,

Please extend my thanks to your Finance Council for inviting me to speak at the Sunday masses earlier this month. It was a real privilege to share The Catholic Foundation story with the parish. I hope my remarks stimulated some of your parishioners to help St. Mary’s through The Catholic Foundation.

As I was preparing my comments, I found that The Catholic Foundation has helped many different parish and school projects at St. Mary’s over the years, and it was nice to see that our support totaled $189,500. That number made me stop and ask myself where our Diocese and parishes like St. Mary’s would be without the funding assistance The Catholic Foundation has provided for more than half a century. Our founders most definitely had a vision for the future and knew our community would step forward to help build it.

That thought brings me to our Thanksgiving celebrations, a time when we to step back and give thanks for the blessings God has given us. In the case of The Catholic Foundation those blessings are twofold. On one hand we have the opportunity to work with generous donors who share the vision of the Foundation, and, on the other, the Foundation has the opportunity of helping build our Diocese and its many ministries through grants made possible by those generous donors. A great combination!

Father Jeremy, thank you for welcoming me at St. Mary’s and my best wishes for a Happy Thanksgiving.

Very truly yours,

Edwin M. Schaffler
President and Chief Executive Officer
