The Catholic Foundation Awards $1.4 Million to 30 Dallas-area Catholic Schools and Churches, Plus Community Organizations

The Catholic Foundation awarded $1.4 million to 30 Dallas-area Catholic schools and churches, plus community organizations during its 2023 spring grant ceremony. Funded by the Foundation’s unrestricted Philanthropy Fund as well as funds established by individuals and families to carry out their charitable goals, the grants will support various projects including HVAC repair, tuition assistance, liturgical music, facility renovations, a new school van and more.

On Friday, April 21, The Catholic Foundation will award $1.4 million to 30 North Texas schools, churches and community organizations during its 2023 spring grant ceremony. The event will take place at St. Cecilia Catholic School in the Oak Cliff section of Dallas.

John Paul II High School Junior Charlotte Blank Receives Hal Tehan Scholar Award

John Paul II High School junior Charlotte Blank has been named the 26th annual recipient of the Hal Tehan Scholar Award. Each year, all local Catholic high schools may nominate a junior student who exemplifies Catholic values, actively participates, contributes to the community and is generally in the top five percent of his or her class. As the top honoree, Charlotte will receive a $10,000 scholarship for her senior year and each of the seven other nominees will receive a $2,500 scholarship.

Dan Odom To Lead The Catholic Foundation Board Of Trustees

The Catholic Foundation Board of Trustees has elected Dan Odom as chairman of its board, succeeding Aileen Pratt who served as board chair the past two years. The board also elected three new trustees, Elsa Alcalá Grivas, Rick Martinez and Maria Castañón Moats. Odom will serve a two-year term and the new trustees will serve two, three-year terms ending in 2028.
