Calling All Texas Artists: 15th Annual Catholic Foundation Art On The Plaza Competition Opens

Last year, Texas artist Kimberley Peterson had a vision. In it, Kimberley visualized she could help remind people through art that they can be both physically present, as well as spiritually present, which is “where the miracles happen.”

Taking her vision to heart, her masterpiece has since greeted tens of thousands of visitors at The Catholic Foundation Plaza in the Dallas Arts District as the 2019 winner of the Catholic Foundation Art On The Plaza competition.

Her winning piece, “Saint Peter’s Fish” earned her the $2,500 grand prize and the opportunity to have her work displayed on the 28 x 9 foot public wall near the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center and the Cathedral Santuario de Guadalupe at the corner of Crockett and Flora St. in downtown Dallas.

It’s now time to invite fellow Texas artists, 18 years or older, to participate in the 15th annual Catholic Foundation Art Competition. We look forward to the creative juices that will flow this summer as beautiful pieces of art are conceptualized and come to life.

Artists can read all about the art competition submission guidelines here. The submission deadline is September 18, and the winning selection will be unveiled on the Plaza art wall this fall, and honorable mention winners will receive $250.

Top to bottom: “Saint Peter’s Fish” by Kimberley Peterson and honorable mention winners “Embracing Differences” by Kathy Elliott, “Dreams Without Borders” by Zahra Jahanyfard and “Imagine” by Kay Wyne.
