Hear From Non-Profit Experts On Running Great Organizations

All are welcome to our offices on Wednesday, June 5 for the next Catholic Community Network focused on the importance of management, including the nuts and bolts of key topics such as hiring, firing and budgets.

Our guest panelists include Trisha Cunningham, President and Chief Executive Officer, North Texas Food Bank; Jim Burke, Executive Vice President and COO, Vistra Energy; and Deacon Jake Schroepfer, President, John Paul II High School. The three speakers will also cover foundational issues such as mission, communications and strategy.

We’ll network at 7:30 a.m. with a continental breakfast and begin the program at 8 a.m. Complimentary parking is on the south side of Merit Tower, 12222 Merit Dr., that faces Medical City.

Trisha had a distinguished career at Texas Instruments, most recently serving as Chief Citizenship Officer. In addition to having a keen understanding of corporate culture, philanthropy and sustainability efforts, Trisha is also very well versed in marketing and communications, having served as a top communications leader for the company both locally and abroad.

Trisha has an executive certificate in nonprofit management through the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) Institute for Excellence in Corporate Governance and has served on the boards of Leadership Women (national), DFW Corporate Citizenship Network, Junior League of Dallas and the UTD Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

Jim has overall responsibility for running the day-to-day operations of Vistra Energy, including fossil generation and mining, nuclear generation, wholesale operations, retail and supply chain. He previously served as chairman and CEO of TXU Energy and its predecessor company, Energy Future Holdings. Jim was also president and chief operating officer of Gexa Energy. 

Jim also worked at The Coca-Cola Company for six years and was a management consultant for Deloitte & Touche Consulting. He serves as chairman of the board of Marucci Sports and is a board member of the Nuclear Energy Institute, United Way Foundation of Metropolitan Dallas and an advisory board member for the Tulane University Energy Institute. 

Deacon Jake joined John Paul II High School (JPII) as Interim President on August 1, 2017, and on December 1, 2017, was named President. He is responsible for directing the strategic and long-range planning for JPII and is charged with providing leadership of the school to achieve the fullest attainment of its mission statement.  

His career as a business executive spanned over three decades where he founded, revitalized, and transformed marketing services companies that served Fortune 500 companies. Ordained a deacon in February 2013, he was responsible for leading business strategy, talent acquisition, and business development. He spent 23 years in various leadership roles within Omnicom Group.

He has held board positions at Catholic Charities of Dallas, Metro Dallas Homeless Alliance, Dallas Citizens Council, Dallas Chamber Orchestra and advisory council positions at the University of Texas and the University of Alabama.
