Calling All Texas Artists to Compete For $2,500 & Downtown Dallas Display of Art for a Year!

The 2021 Art on the Plaza winner, Heajung Jina Lee, loved drawing, painting, and performing music from an early age. But little did she know that her love of the arts would lead to having her art displayed on a 28 x 9 foot wall in downtown Dallas for a year.

Inspired by Adriana Rivera’s 2018 winning piece, Tree of Life, Jina decided to submit her entry in 2021 with the hope of creating a piece that would enliven the Plaza which is surrounded by tall buildings in an urban environment.

“I wanted to paint something that would be joyful and suitable to the environment – a work of art that could be enjoyed by all ages,” she said.

If you’re an artist, what inspires you?

The 17th annual Art on the Plaza competition is underway and all Texas artists 18 years of age or older are invited to submit one original work of art to be considered for the first prize of $2,500 and opportunity to have your art displayed in the hear of the downtown Dallas Arts District for one year.

You can read the submission guidelines by clicking here. Spread the word to your friends and associates in the artist community and if you enter the competition, we wish you well!
