Planned Giving provides a way to fulfill your charitable and philanthropic intentions with gifts made to The Catholic Foundation from your estate after your lifetime in accordance with specific plans you have made during the course of your lifetime. Planned Giving creates a long term charitable commitment from your estate through wills, trusts, life insurance policies and other estate plans.

Types of Planned Gifts

The Catholic Foundation welcomes the opportunity to work with you and your financial and legal advisors to execute your philanthropic vision consistent with your financial and estate plans.

  • Gifts in a Will

Designate a specific dollar amount, percentage, asset, or residual in your will or trust.

I give, devise and bequeath (description of assets or percent of residual estate) to The Catholic Foundation, to be placed in (name of the fund) Fund to be held by The Catholic Foundation in perpetuity, not in trust but in fee simple with the reasonable spending policy amount to be available in the sole discretion of The Catholic Foundation, for uses and purposes in support of religious, charitable and educational needs and programs consistent with the Foundation’s charter. The Catholic Foundation is a qualified charitable organization located at 12222 Merit Dr., Suite 850, Dallas, TX, 75251, Federal Tax ID #75-1106620.

Note: Please consult with a member of The Catholic Foundation staff for the best language for your situation.

  • Life Estates

Donate your home/vacation home while continuing to live in it. Receive a current tax deduction and maintain the home. After your lifetime, we sell the property and funds are distributed as you designate.

  • Beneficiary Designations

Utilize a simple form for your life insurance policy, retirement plan and bank account. Such a gift avoids the double taxation of IRA funds – first as part of the estate and then as income to the beneficiary – preserving more estate assets for good works in the community.

  • Charitable Gift Annuities

For those 55 and older, gift assets and receive payments for life. The payments may be deferred for a higher rate. Receive an immediate charitable tax deduction and enjoy a tax-free portion of the return.

  • Charitable Lead Trusts

For gifts of $100,000 or more, benefit charity for a term of years, lower estate and gift taxes. After the trust term ends, family or beneficiaries receive the remainder. This may be established during your lifetime or after your lifetime through your will.

  • Charitable Remainder Trusts

For gifts of $100,000 or more, benefit loved ones for life or a term of years with this tax-incentive vehicle. Established for a lifetime or a term of years, the donor receives annual income. After the trust term ends, charity receives the remainder. This may be established during life or after your lifetime through your will.

All of these opportunities may be customized to meet your charitable intentions.
