Monarch Migration Paves Way For 2023 Winner

About half a million monarch butterflies are about to pass through Texas to Mexico where they’ll spend winter.

As the acrobats of the sky pass through North Texas in October, we’ll be replacing the largest monarch butterfly in Dallas with the recently crowned 2023 annual Art On The Plaza champion entry on the Foundation’s 28×9 foot public art wall in the heart of the Dallas Arts District.

The public is invited to the dedication and unveiling event on Tuesday, Oct. 24 at 10 a.m. The ceremony will also be accessible via a Facebook Live digital event on the Foundation’s Facebook page, @CatholicFnd.

We’ve received sweet comments about Wings Of Joy filling The Catholic Foundation Art Plaza with color and whimsy during the past year.

If you haven’t taken a selfie in the middle of artist Robert Opel’s giant monarch, plan to do so, and soon! If you’re lucky, some smaller monarchs will photobomb you.
