Ursuline Academy of Dallas President Gretchen Kane Leads With Love

Having served as the Ursuline Academy of Dallas president for the past 12 years, Gretchen Kane has imbued with St. Angela’s spirit of Serviam at the school that celebrates its 150th birthday this year.

Each day, Kane lives out the mission statement. Several years ago, she initiated a comprehensive campaign to address new needs for student well-being and sound educational practices along with professional development in the spirit of St. Angela, foundress of the Ursuline Sisters who sponsor the outstanding school.

In celebration of Catholic Schools Week and during an all-school assembly that celebrated the school’s milestone birthday, Kane was presented The Catholic Foundation Work Of Heart Award by Anna LeBlanc, an Ursuline graduate and senior development officer at The Catholic Foundation.

Many wonderful things were said about Kane in nominations from her co-workers. Here are just a few.

“Gretchen has exceeded all expectations as a faith-filled leader working closely together with the Ursuline Sisters, the Dallas diocese, our board of trustees, alumnae, parents, past and present, and our co-workers to give our young women an outstanding Catholic education here at Ursuline.”

“Together with our entire Ursuline Academy family, she worked to secure grants during the pandemic to help with ‘hubs’ in the classrooms to enhance the learning at home when students could not come in person to school.”

“Gretchen is an approachable and inclusive administrator. Her ability to connect with people and motivate people is remarkable. She has a strong work ethic and produces consistently high-quality results. Under her leadership, Ursuline received the Top 100 Places to Work 2021.”

“I don’t think that Gretchen has ever met a stranger. Her kindness and sincerity draws students to her. She genuinely shows an interest in everyone she meets. Her faith is evident in our adult advisories, during mass, and prayer services. She is compassionate and generous to her Ursuline faculty and students.”

Congratulations President Gretchen Kane on being named our newest #WorkOfHeart honoree!
